Momoe Mori (森 萌々穂,Mori Momoe, born December 8, 2004) is a Japanese dancer, singer, model, and actress. She is best known as a member of the girl group@onefive, and is a former member of the idol groupSakura Gakuin. She is represented by the talent agencyAmuse Inc. and is signed with the record labelAvex Trax.
Mori's career in the entertainment industry began in her first year of elementary school, when she was recruited by the talent agencyAmuse Inc.[2][3] Her earliest appearances in media included the Japanese television showsSaki in 2013,Soredemo Boku wa Kimi ga Suki in 2015, andKūfuku Anthology in 2016.[4] She also appeared in the 2014 music video for "Cling Cling" byPerfume.[5][6] She played a minor role in the 2016 filmMy Uncle.[7] In that same year, Mori was cast as the daughter of the fictional family seen in the series of commercials released byPanasonic under the title ofFudan Premium for its home appliances.[8]
Mori joined the Japanese idol groupSakura Gakuin during theSakura Gakuin 2016 Transfer Ceremony, held at theNakano Sunplaza Hall on May 6, 2016, along with fellow transfer-insTsugumi Aritomo[9] and Yuzumi Shintani.[10] She was in her sixth year of elementary school at the time.[11] She participated in theSakura Gakuin Festival 2018 on November 25, 2018, held at theTokyo International Forum, and became a member of the group's sub-unit Trico Dolls.[12] During theSakura Gakuin 2019 Transfer Ceremony, held at theBunkyo Civic Center on May 6, 2019, she became the sixth Talk Chairman of the group.[13]
On October 19, 2019, during theSakura Gakuin Festival 2019 at theKanagawa Arts Theatre, it was revealed that Mori had formed a four-member girl group named@onefive with fellow Sakura Gakuin membersKano Fujihira,Soyoka Yoshida, and Tsugumi Aritomo.[14] On August 30, 2020, she graduated along with the other three members from Sakura Gakuin during the concert titledThe Road to Graduation 2019 Final.[15][16]
In June 2021, Mori appeared on the Japanese variety showWhat's Wrong with Being Wily?, which was broadcast onTV Asahi. She was unanimously voted the winner of the 1st Azato Audition, entitling her to appear in a future mini-drama.[17][18]
Continuing her entertainment activities under the stage name Momo,[19] she released her first album with @onefive, titled1518, on February 2, 2022.[20]
Mori and the rest of her girl group made their major label debut withAvex Trax on November 6, 2022, when their digital single "Miraizu" (未来図) was released.[21] The song was featured as the theme song for the television drama adaptation of the mangaIf My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die, which was broadcast from October to December 2022.[22] On May 12, 2023, the film adaptation of the manga was released with @onefive's "Chance" as its theme song.[23] Mori was cast in both adaptations as Sorane Matsuyama, a member of the fictional idol group ChamJam.[22] Her vocals as ChamJam were included on the albumI Live For You (きみのために生きてる,Kimi no Tame ni Ikiteru), which was released byPony Canyon on May 10, 2023.[24][25]
She began modeling forAmazon Fashion Japan in November 2023, when @onefive was chosen to be itsGeneration Z Leader.[26]
Mori released her second album with @onefive, titledClassy Crush, on April 17, 2024.[27] She was in charge of rapping.[28]
Mori's studies at university included English and, to a lesser extent, French as foreign languages.[29] She has mentioned that she admires the Japanese music artistsBabymetal,[30] which consists of her seniors fromSakura Gakuin,[16] andVaundy.[31] Mori began listening to hip-hop as she started to have rap sections in@onefive's songs. Her favorite rappers includeAshnikko andKanye West, withYeezus being one of her favorite albums.[32]
