Mohamed Ahmed Zaki Mohamed (Arabic:محمد أحمد زكي محمد; born 29 January 1956) is an Egyptiancolonel general who wasminister of defense of Egypt from June 14, 2018, to July 2, 2024. He previously held the command for theEgyptian Paratroopers from December 2008 to August 2012 and became the commander of theRepublican Guard Forces until June 2018.
Zaki was sworn in on 14 June 2018, succeedingSedki Sobhy as the minister of defense.[1] His appointment may have been a reward for arresting former Egyptian PresidentMohamed Morsi during the2013 Egyptian coup d'état.[2][3]
