Modigliana (Romagnol:Mudgiâna) is acomune (municipality) in theProvince of Forlì-Cesena in theItalian regionEmilia-Romagna, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) southeast ofBologna and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) southwest ofForlì.

Modigliana became a "noble city" in 1838 when it was part of theGrand Duchy of Tuscany.

From 1850 until 1986Modigliana Cathedral was the seat of thediocese of Modigliana.[3] Famous 19th century painterSilvestro Lega was from Modigliana, and every September the town holds a "Tableau Vivants Festival" in which citizens dress in 19th century costume and reenact Lega's paintings.[4]

Modigliana borders the following municipalities:Brisighella,Castrocaro Terme e Terra del Sole,Dovadola,Marradi,Rocca San Casciano,Tredozio.
