TheModer (French:la Moder,[mɔdɛʁ];German:die Moder) is ariver in northeasternFrance; it begins inZittersheim and ends at the riverRhine. It is 82.1 km (51.0 mi) long.[1]
The name of the river comes from Matrae—the Gallic river goddess.
Its source of the Moder is near thehamletModerfeld, in thecommune ofZittersheim. It joins the Rhine near theIffezheim Lock, inGermany. The four primary tributaries of the Moder are theZinsel du Nord,Zorn, Rothbach, and Soultzbach.[1]
