
Ministry of the Environment of Denmark (Danish:Miljøministeriet) is theDanish ministry in charge of almost all matters concerningenvironmental issues in Denmark. The head office is inCopenhagen.[1]
Created in 1971 as the Ministry of Pollution Combating ("Ministeriet for forureningsbekæmpelse"), it changed its name in 1973 to the current Ministry of the Environment. However, from 1994 to 2005 it was known as the Ministry of Environment and Energy ("Miljø- og Energiministeriet"), as the ministry was merged with theMinistry of Energy. In 2005, the energy sector was detached again and the ministry reverted to the old name.
In a press release on 21 March 2007, the ministry announced that it would be hosting theCOP-15summit in 2009.[2]COP 15 took place in Copenhagen from 7 December to 18 December 2009.
