TheMinistry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture (Portuguese:Ministério do Desenvolvimento Agrário e Agricultura Familiar, abbreviatedMDA) is acabinet-levelfederalministry inBrazil.
The MDA was established in 1999 to overseeland reform in Brazil and promote sustainable practices. The agency oversees theCenter for Agrarian Studies and Rural Development (NEAD) and theNational Institute for Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra).[2]
After taking office as Acting President,Michel Temer merged the ministry with theMinistry of Social Development. It was later reestablished by PresidentLuiz Inácio Lula da Silva in 2023. The incumbent minister isPaulo Teixeira.
