Theminister of communications and digital technologies (formerlyminister of communications,minister of posts, telecommunications and broadcasting andminister of posts and yelecommunications) is aminister in theGovernment of South Africa, responsible for overseeing theDepartment of Communications and Digital Technologies.
In May 2014 PresidentJacob Zuma split the ministry by establishing the position ofminister of telecommunications and postal services alongside the minister of communications. However, in a cabinet reshuffle in November 2018, PresidentCyril Ramaphosa announced the reversal of the split, absorbing the telecommunications and postal services functions back into the Ministry of Communications.[3] The respective departments did not merge until after the2019 general election.[4] After the election Ramaphosa renamed the office as the minister of communications and digital technologies.[5]
