Minami-ku (南区) is one of the fivewards ofKumamoto City,Japan. Meaning literally "south ward," it is bordered by theNishi-ku,Chūō-ku,Higashi-ku and also by the cities ofUki,Uto and the towns ofKashima,Mifune andKōsa. As of 2012, it has apopulation of 122,773 people and an area of 110.02 km2.
