TheMinahasa Peninsula, also spelledMinahassa, is one of the four principalpeninsulas on theIndonesian island ofSulawesi. It stretches north from the central part of the island, before turning to the east and forming the northern boundary of theGulf of Tomini and the southern boundary of theCelebes Sea.
The peninsula is divided intoNorth Sulawesi andGorontalo provinces, as well as part ofCentral Sulawesi. Its largest cities areManado andGorontalo, whilePalu is located at its base.
TheMinahasan people live in the eastern peninsula.[1][2] TheMinahasan languages, a branch of thePhilippine languages, are spoken on the peninsula.
