Min Hyo-rin (Korean: 민효린; bornJung Eun-ran on 5 February 1986)[2][3] is a South Korean actress, model and singer. She made her breakthrough with her role in the South Korean filmSunny (2011), followed byThe Grand Heist (2012) – both cited as one of South Korea'shighest-grossing box office hits.
Born inDong-gu,Daegu, South Korea[1] as Jung Eun-ran, she adopted thestage name Min Hyo-rin when she beganmodeling for the clothing brand Flapper in 2006.[4] She then appeared in severalmusic videos for Park Ki-young andF.T. Island. Before her singing debut, large teaser posters of her were displayed around the hot spots ofSeoul as a promotional stunt. She released thealbumRinZ in 2007, and thesingleTouch Me in 2008.
In 2009 Min made her acting debut in thetelevision seriesTriple oppositeLee Jung-jae andSong Joong-ki.[5][6][7] She was the lead actress in a 2010web series adapted fromAlain de Botton's novelRomantic Movement, with four different directors each shootingshort films in various locations around Seoul.[8]
Min was paired with singerSeven in thereality showFox's Butler,[9] and hosted the sixth season of cable channelMnet'sTrend Report Feel from 2010 to 2011.
In 2011, she andChoi Daniel starred inAge of Milk, a short film that was shot using aSamsung Galaxy S smartphone and aired on cable channelOCN.[10][11] Later that year, she was cast in the TV seriesRomance Town withSung Yu-ri andKim Min-jun,[12] and appeared inSong Jieun's music video "Going Crazy."
After being part of the ensemble cast of 2011 retro dramaSunny along withShim Eun-kyung andKang So-ra,[13] Min playedCha Tae-hyun's love interest in the 2012 period comedyThe Grand Heist.[14][15] Both werehuge box office hits. In 2012, Min co-starred withJo Sung-ha andPark Jin-young inA Millionaire on the Run (also known asFive Million Dollar Man).[16][17] She next starred inTwenty, a film that depicts the lives and loves of three male friends in their twenties.[18]
In 2015, Min headlined the music dramaPersevere Goo Hae Ra, produced by Mnet.[19]
In 2016, Min became a regular cast member in theKBS reality television showSister's Slam Dunk.[20][21]
In March 2017, Min signed with Plum Entertainment after her contract withJYP Entertainment ended.[22] The same year, she starred in the two-episode dramaThe Happy Loner and the cycling filmUhm Bok-dong.[23][24][25]
Min began a relationship with singerTaeyang, member of the South Koreanboy bandBig Bang in 2013.[26][27] In December 2017, it was confirmed by their respective agencies that they were engaged.[28][29][30] They married on 3 February 2018 in a private church ceremony.[31][32]
On 27 September 2021, Min's agency announced that Min was pregnant and awaiting childbirth.[33] In November 2021, Min gave birth to a healthy son.[34][35]
