Milltown Football Club is a former Irishfootball club based inBelfast.
It was founded in 1886[1] and was a founding member of the Irish Junior League in 1890, before it joined theIrish Football League for the1891–92 season.[2] As a League member, it was exempted to the third round of theIrish Cup, but was hammered 16–0 byUlster in its first tie.[3]
The club was excluded for the1892–93 season as the League was reduced to six members.[4] It rejoined the Junior League, and enjoyed its greatest honour by beating theGlentoran second XI to win theIrish Intermediate Cup in 1895–96, despite the side being struck by a bout ofinfluenza.[5] However, despite a support that was larger in number than that of some of the senior clubs,[6] the club folded during the 1896–97 season.[7]
The team originally wore green shirts,[8] which changed to green and white in 1892,[9] and green and red in 1896.[10]
The club originally played atFalls Park.[11]
