Military careers are the chosen or assignedtrade orcareer specialties in thearmed forces which demand from the individuals achievement ofqualifications, and a degree of knowledge and skill in thetradecraft to perform tasks and assignments to an acceptable level of completeness or quality.
Commonly military occupations are specific to the Arm, Service or Branch of thearmed forces because of the different requirements of the personnel to operate in different environments, using different technologies and working within differentoperational systems.
The general term of reference to service personnel in the land component of an armed forces is asoldier, that of the naval component asailor, that of the naval infantry component amarine, and in the air component anairman, which are sometimes also the lowestmilitary rank in these services.[1][2]
