Michael L. Gambino (born July 9, 1977) is an Americanbaseball coach and formerinfielder, who is the current head baseball coach of thePenn State Nittany Lions.[1] Prior to accepting the head coaching position at Penn State, he served as an assistant and head coach at Boston College, a position he held for 12 years. He scouted for theDetroit Tigers, and served as an assistant atVirginia Tech.[2]
Gambino playedcollege baseball at Boston College from 1997–2000. In 1998, he playedcollegiate summer baseball for theOrleans Cardinals of theCape Cod Baseball League.[3] In June 2000, he signed as an undrafted free agent with theBoston Red Sox and played two seasons ofminor league baseball in their system.[4][5]
