Michel Kichka (born 1954[1]) is an Israelicartoonist andillustrator of Belgian origin. His father wasHolocaust survivorHenri Kichka.
Michel Kichka was born in Belgium toHenri Kichka, aHolocaust survivor, and his wife, Lucia (née Świerczyński). Heimmigrated to Israel in 1974 and studied art at theBezalel Academy, where he became an instructor and one of Israel's leading comic book artists and political cartoonists.[2][3][4] Students he trained in the field includeRutu Modan andUri Fink.[4] Kichka produces comics in French and Hebrew for variousmedia outlets includingLe Monde andTV5.[5] He is married to Olivia and they have three sons.
Kichka won the IsraeliDosh Cartoonist Award in 2008.[3] In 2006 he joined theUNRIC movementCartooning for Peace.[1][6] In 2011 he was granted the prestigiousChevalier Des Arts Et Des Lettres honor by theFrench Culture Ministry.[4] Kichka serves as head of the Israel Cartoonists Guild.[1]
