Michael L. Chyet (born 1957) is an Americanlinguist.
He is acataloguer ofMiddle Eastern languages at theLibrary of Congress. Formerly he was senior editor of the Kurdish Service of theVoice of America andprofessor ofKurdish at theUniversity of Paris and at theWashington Kurdish Institute.
He has written aKurdish-English dictionary. He is a skillful linguist who is fluent in several Middle Eastern languages, includingArabic,Hebrew,Persian,Turkish and at least two dialects ofKurdish, bothSorani andKurmanji, in addition to several other European languages.
