Mettray (French pronunciation:[mɛtʁɛ]ⓘ) is acommune in theIndre-et-Loiredepartment in centralFrance. TheMettray Penal Colony was opened there in 1839.
The inhabitants are calledMettrayens in French. The communeLa Membrolle-sur-Choisille was created in 1873 from part of Mettray.[3]
