Metteniusaceae are afamily offlowering plants, the only family in the orderMetteniusales.[1] It consists of about 10 genera and 50 species[2] oftrees,shrubs, andlianas, primarily of thetropics. The family was formerly restricted to justMetteniusa, but it is now expanded with a number of genera that were formerly placed in the widelypolyphyleticIcacinaceae.
As of June 2016[update], theAngiosperm Phylogeny Website accepts 11 genera:[3]
