Matn (Arabic:قضاء المتن,Qaḍāʾ al-Matn), sometimes spelledMetn (or preceded by the articleEl, as inEl Matn), is a district (qadaa) in theMount Lebanon Governorate ofLebanon, east of the Lebanon's capitalBeirut.[1] The district capital isJdeideh (followed to Jdeideh,Bouchrieh, El Sedd Municipality).
Matn is one of the most popular areas in Lebanon, with its rich scenery and its splendid view of the Mediterranean. Matn's population is almost entirelyChristian with someDruze in the region, mostly inBeit Mery,Broummana,Mtein andZarooun.
The Matn district is also popularly known as Northern Matn District (قضاء المتن الشماليQaḍāʾ al-Matn aš-Šamāliyy) not to be confused with Southern Matn (المتن الجنوبيal-Matn al-Janūbī) which is part ofBaabda District and with Uppermost Matn (المتن الأعلىal-Matn al-ʾAʿlā) which is part of Baabda District.
