Metiga was aPecheneg ruler who allied himself withVladimir I of Kiev around the year 988 CE.[1][2] Metiga assisted with the capture ofCherson by Vladimir, who converted toChristianity shortly after the town's fall to his forces. He was preceded as Pechenegkhan byKurya, and succeeded byKuchug; Metiga's rule was over by 991.[3]

Also in 988, Metiga requested baptism from Vladimir.[4]
