Methandriol propionate (brand nameMetilbisexovis), ormethylandrostenediol propionate, also known as17α-methylandrost-5-ene-3β,17β-diol 3β-propionate, is asynthetic,injectedanabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) and a17α-alkylatedderivative of5-androstenediol that is or was marketed by Vister inItaly.[1][2][3] It is anandrogen ester – specifically, the C3,17βpropionateester ofmethandriol (17α-methyl-5-androstenediol) – and acts as aprodrug of methandriol in the body.[1] Methandriol propionate is administered byintramuscular injection and, relative to methandriol, has an extended duration via this route due to adepot effect afforded by itsester.[citation needed]
