Merate Astronomical Observatory is an oldobservatory inMerate (Lecco), Italy. It has housed a 1-meterZeiss telescope since 1926.
ThisZeiss di Merate is areflecting telescope on anequatorial mount and is one of the largest telescopes funded by theRegno d'Italia ("Kingdom of Italy") before Italy became republic in 1946.
The same type of Zeiss telescope was also installed at theHamburg-Bergedorf Observatory and theRoyal Observatory of Belgium.[1]
