According to numerous watchdog groups, press freedom has declined significantly under prime ministerViktor Orbán.[1][2][3][4][5] In 2010,Freedom House's press freedom index ranked Hungary’s media as the world's 40th freest. As of 2017, it had dropped to 87th freest, and Freedom House now says it is only "partly free."[6]
Described as a predator of press freedom by RSF, Prime Minister Viktor Orban has built a true media empire subject to his party's orders
