Medi1 Radio (Arabic:مدي 1, also known asRadio Méditerranée Internationale) is aMoroccanradio network. Medi 1 has anaudience of around 23 million people. It is emitted fromNador transmitter on 171 kHzlongwave, and viainternet andsatellite.
Previously a private radio network, Medi 1 Radio has been under the majority control of state-owned broadcasterSNRT since 2024.[1][2] The station started broadcasting in 1980 and is based inTangier.
The radio station broadcasts throughout theMaghreb countries and it isbilingual, broadcasting content in bothArabic andFrench.
Medi 1 was managed by Pierre Casalta (1936 – 2021) from its foundation until 2010.[3] Although the station describes itself as politically independent, two former journalists opining forL'Obs nicknamed it the "voice of theking", noting its subjective coverage of the monarchy.[4] Itsslogan isMedi 1, la radio du grand Maghreb.
