Maziya Sports and Recreation Club is aMaldivian professionalfootball club based inMalé.[2] They compete in theDhivehi Premier League, the country's top division. The club was formed in 1996 and was promoted to the first division for the first time in 2006.[3]
The club was founded on 23 January 1996. The club is one of the most successful clubs in Maldives, having won thetop tier domestic league five times in2016,2019–20,2020–21,2022,2023
In the2022 AFC Cup group-stages, Maziya witnessed a 1–0 defeat toBashundhara Kings, but won their second match againstGokulam Kerala.[4] They were knocked out of the tournament after a 5–2 defeat in the last match toIndian Super League sideATK Mohun Bagan.[5] The club again featured in 2023–24 edition of AFC Cup.[6]
