Mayrornis is a genus ofbird in the familyMonarchidae found in theSolomon Islands andFiji. The nameMayrornis is a compound word. The first part,Mayr, commemoratesErnst Walter Mayr, a Germanornithologist andsystematist. The second part,ornis, is theGreek word meaning "bird".[2] Established byFrank Alexander Wetmore in 1932, it contains the following species:[3]
