Huntsville's mayoral elections arenon-partisan, but most candidates can be affiliated with political parties. Huntsville uses atwo-round system, where election runoffs are held if no candidate obtains the majority of the vote.
The2008 Huntsville mayoral election took place on August 26, 2008, to elect themayor ofHuntsville, Alabama. Incumbent mayorLoretta Spencer ran for re-election to a fourth term. A runoff was held on October 7, 2008, since no candidate surpassed 50%. In the runoffRepublicanTommy Battle defeated Mayor Spencer.[1]
Spencer was endorsed byThe Huntsville Times. The Committee of 100, a group of businesspeople, issued a joint endorsement of Battle and Spencer.
The2024 Huntsville mayoral election took place on August 27, 2024, to elect themayor ofHuntsville, Alabama. IncumbentRepublican MayorTommy Battle is ran for re-election to a fifth term.[11] He won re-election due to the race being uncontested.[12]
