Matt Winer is an American television personality who is currently working forTNT Sports.
Turner Sports signed Winer in 2010 to contribute to coverage of sports across its networks.[1] He became the primary studio host forMajor League Baseball on TBS, replacingErnie Johnson Jr., who moved into a play-by-play role. He is also a studio host onNBA TV, and contributes toTNT's coverage of NASCAR, NBA, and the PGA Tour. He is one of the studio hosts forCollege Basketball on CBS.
Winer worked forESPN from 2001 through 2009 He was often seen as an anchor onESPNEWS and the 6:00 pmET edition ofSportsCenter, or as a host ofNBA Fastbreak andCollege Football Scoreboard. He also hosted theSportsCenter 30 at 30 Update duringSaturday Night Football and game updates duringABC's coverage ofcollege football.
Prior to ESPN, Winer worked at four different television stations:KSDK-TV inSt. Louis, Missouri,WOOD-TV inGrand Rapids, Michigan,WJTV-TV inJackson, Mississippi, andKTVQ-TV inBillings, Montana.
Winer is a graduate of theUniversity of Missouri and was a member of thePi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He has been nominated for four regional sports Emmys.
