Matthew Sewell is an offensive line coach forYork University after having been anoffensive lineman in theCanadian Football League.[1]
After the2012 CIS season, he was ranked as the fourth best player in theCanadian Football League’s Amateur Scouting Bureau final rankings for players eligible in the2013 CFL Draft and third by players inCanadian Interuniversity Sport.[2] Sewell was drafted in the first round, eighth overall by theToronto Argonauts, despite having signed with theTennessee Titans ofNational Football League.[3] He played college football for theMcMaster Marauders and helped them to win the47th Vanier Cup[4] After being released by the Titans near the end of May 2013, Sewell decided to return play one more year of CIS football with the McMaster Marauders while completing his Masters of Business Administration.[5]
On February 12, 2014, Sewell signed with theToronto Argonauts of theCanadian Football League.
On July 2, 2016, Sewell andMitchell Gale were traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders forShawn Lemon and a conditional2018 CFL Draft pick.[6]
Sewell graduated from theBerkshire School in 2009 before attendingMcMaster University.
