Matthew Paul Burnell[1] (born 25 August 1978) has been the member of theAustralian House of Representatives for theDivision of Spence inSouth Australia since he was elected at the2022 Australian federal election. He is a member of theAustralian Labor Party.
Burnell grew up on his family's citrus farm nearMildura inVictoria. He joined theArmy Reserves then worked as a truck driver and later seafarer. He became a union organiser in theTransport Workers' Union in 2016. He lives inHillbank with his wife Cassandra.[2]
