Mats Gustafsson (born 12 December 1975) is a Finnish former professionalfootballer who played as aright-back for Finnish clubsIFK Mariehamn andFC Inter Turku.[1][2]
Gustafsson is aSwedish-speaking Finn fromÅland.[3][2] He moved toFC Inter Turku fromFinnish fourth-tier side Sund IF in 1997.[2] He missed the beginning of2002 season the due to an ankle injury.[4] Having previously played as astriker, he was converted into aright-back in the 2002 season.[2] He played 178 league matches scoring 23 goals for Inter Turku.[5]
In October 2005 it was announced he would joinIFK Mariehamn from Inter Turku for the2006 season.[3] He signed a three-year contract.[3] He made 41 league appearances for IFK Mariehamn.[5]
Gustafsson announced his retirement from playing in November 2007 at the age of 31, with two years left on his contract with IFK Mariehamn.[5]
Originally aconstruction worker, Gustafsson graduated fromÅbo Akademi University with a degree inEconomics in 2004.[2]
