Matías Germán Nani (born 26 March 1998) is an Argentine professionalfootballer who plays as acentre-back forAl-Sailiya, on loan fromAl-Gharafa in Qatar.[2]
Nani had a youth spell in the systems ofArgentinos Juniors andLanús, featuring for the latter at the2016 U-20 Copa Libertadores in Paraguay.[2][3] In 2017,Serie A sideRoma completed the signing of Nani.[2] He made his unofficial debut for the club in a pre-season friendly win over Pinzolo Campiglio on 11 July 2017, prior to playing again days later versus1. FC Slovácko.[2][4] In the following month, on 16 August, Nani was loaned toTemperley of theArgentine Primera División.[2][3] He made his professional debut over a week after during a home defeat toRiver Plate.[2] He featured a total of fifteen times for them in2017–18.[2][5]
On 11 July 2018, Nani was signed on loan byBelgrano.[2] His first appearances came in the succeeding October againstBanfield andVélez Sarsfield, on the way to nine total matches for theCórdoba-based outfit as they suffered relegation toPrimera B Nacional.[2] In July 2019, Nani returned to his homeland for a third loan away from Roma – as he agreed terms with newly promoted Primera División teamCentral Córdoba.[2][6] Twenty-three appearances came, as did his first senior goal after he netted in aCopa de la Superliga loss toNewell's Old Boys on 15 March 2020; his last game before theCOVID-enforced break.[2]
In October 2020, Nani completed a permanent move back to Argentina withUnión Santa Fe.[2][7]
Nani represented theArgentina U20s at the2016 COTIF Tournament in Spain.[8] He won two caps, againstVenezuela in the semi-finals and againstSpain in the final; receiving a sending off in a 3–1 loss.[9][10]
