Masterton Ure (3 April 1777 – 10 March 1863) was a Scottish lawyer andTory politician, serving as theMember of Parliament forWeymouth and Melcombe Regis.
Ure was born to the Rev. Robert Ure, a minister inAirth,Stirling.[1] He attended theUniversity of Glasgow.
Ure made hismaiden speech on the topic of theWest Indies on 9 March 1818.[2]
Ure was opposed toCatholic emancipation,Jewish emancipation, parliamentary reform and was a supporter ofslavery.[3]
Ure died on 10 March 1863, aged 85, inMiddlesex,London leaving his estate divided up between his nephews and nieces.[1]
