Mary Ellen Snodgrass (born February 29, 1944) is an American educator and writer of textbooks and general reference works.[1]

Biography

Snodgrass was born on February 29, 1944, inWilmington,North Carolina, to William and Lucy Robinson.[citation needed] She attendedUniversity of North Carolina at Greensboro (1966) andAppalachian State University[2][3] and is a member ofPhi Beta Kappa.[citation needed]

Snodgrass taught English and Latin atHickory High School andLenoir Rhyne University for 23 years.[4][1] She is a member of the North Carolina Library Board[citation needed] and in 2013 chairedVOYA's nonfiction honor list selection committee.[4] Snodgrass has reviewed reference books forBooklist,Choice Reviews,Isis, and others[4] and has won several reference books-of-the-year awards from theAmerican Library Association,Choice, andLibrary Journal.[4] Her books have also been named editor's choice by theHickory Daily Record,Booklist, and theNew York Public Library.[citation needed]

Personal life

She married Hugh Snodgrass in 1984 and has a foster daughter, Deborah.[citation needed] She lives inHickory, North Carolina.[4][1]
