Marvell Tell III (born August 2, 1996) is an American professionalfootballcornerback. He playedcollege football atUSC, and played high school football atCrespi Carmelite High School.
Playing atCrespi Carmelite High School inEncino, California, Tell playedfree safety and had ten scholarship offers after his sophomore year, which saw him intercept a pass and make over 50 tackles.[1] He had to sit out part of his junior season due to a broken collarbone.[2] His commitment toUSC came at theArmy All-American Bowl after his senior year at Crespi.[3] Tell chose USC overOregon,Texas A&M andVanderbilt, all of whom he visited.[4]
After playing sporadically during his freshman season at USC, Tell claimed a starting position in thedefensive backfield for his sophomore season.[5]
Tell made the2017 All-Pac-12 Conference team on the first-team after his junior season.[6]
Towards the end of his senior season, Tell sustained an ankle sprain.[7] At the end of the season, he was named an honorable mention on the2018 All-Pac-12 team.[8]

At the 2019NFL Combine, Tell turned heads with a 42-inch vertical jump.[12] Scouts noted his speed and fluidness but worried about his intangibles.[13]
Tell was drafted by theIndianapolis Colts in the fifth round (144th overall) in the2019 NFL draft.[14]In week 9 against thePittsburgh Steelers, Tell forced a fumble on running backJaylen Samuels that was recovered by teammateJustin Houston in the 26–24 loss.[15]
On August 5, 2020, Tell announced he would opt out of the 2020 season due to theCOVID-19 pandemic.[16]
On September 1, 2021, Tell was waived by the Colts and re-signed to thepractice squad.[17][18]
On February 21, 2022, Tell re-signed with the Colts.[19] He was waived on August 30, 2022.[20]
On September 1, 2022, theCincinnati Bengals signed Tell to their practice squad.[21] He signed a reserve/future contract on January 31, 2023.[22] He was placed oninjured reserve on August 29, 2023.[23] He was released on September 19.
