Martín Rodrigo Anselmi (born 11 July 1985) is an Argentine professionalfootball manager ofCampeonato Brasileiro Série A clubBotafogo.
Born inRosario,Santa Fe,[2] Anselmi played youth football forFerro Carril Oeste.[3] He also has ajournalism degree at DeporTEA inBuenos Aires, but never worked in the profession.[4]
Anselmi began his career withExcursionistas' youth setup in 2015, and had a brief stint atCAI before being invited byGabriel Milito to join his staff atIndependiente in 2016.[5]
In 2017, Anselmi joinedAtlanta asFrancisco Berscé's assistant.[5] In the following year, he moved abroad and was named in charge of Ecuadorian sideUniversidad Católica del Ecuador's reserve team.[6]
In 2019, after a short period atReal Garcilaso, Anselmi returned to Ecuador and becameMiguel Ángel Ramírez's assistant atIndependiente del Valle. He followed Ramírez toInternacional,[7] but left the club on 11 June when the manager was dismissed.[8]
On 17 December 2021, Anselmi was named manager ofChilean Primera División sideUnión La Calera for the ensuing campaign.[9] The following 25 April, with only one win in 11 league matches, he left the club on a mutual agreement.[10]
On 30 May 2022, Anselmi returned to del Valle, now replacingRenato Paiva as manager.[11] He won four titles with the club, before resigning on 17 December 2023, after losing the2023 Serie A finals on penalties.[12]
On 20 December 2023, Mexican clubCruz Azul appointed Anselmi as their new head coach. He guided the team to the final of theClausura 2024 tournament, where they ultimately finished in second place after a narrow defeat toClub América.[13] On 22 January 2025, Anselmi concluded his employment with Cruz Azul following the payment of his exit clause.[14]
On 27 January 2025, Portuguese clubPorto announced Anselmi as their new head coach.[15] On 1 July, he was dismissed after a poor performance in the2025 FIFA Club World Cup.[16]
On 22 December 2025, Anselmi switched teams and countries again, after being announced as head coach ofCampeonato Brasileiro Série A sideBotafogo on a two-year contract.[17]
