Marshall Islands–United Kingdom relations encompass the foreign andbilateral relations between theRepublic of the Marshall Islands and theUnited Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The two countries established diplomatic relations on 2 February 1992.[1]

Both countries share common membership of theInternational Criminal Court, theUnited Nations, and theWorld Health Organization. Bilaterally the two countries have a Tax Information Exchange Agreement.[2]

Economic relations

The Marshall Islands is eligible to accede to thePacific States–United Kingdom Economic Partnership Agreement, afree trade agreement with the United Kingdom.[3]

Following thewithdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union, the UK andPacific States signed the Pacific States–United Kingdom Economic Partnership Agreement on 14 March 2019. The Pacific States–United Kingdom Economic Partnership Agreement is acontinuity trade agreement, based on theEU free trade agreement, which entered into force on 1 January 2021.[4][5] Trade value between the Pacific States and the United Kingdom was worth £286 million in 2022.[6]

Diplomatic missions

  • The Marshall Islands does not maintain an embassy in the United Kingdom.
  • The United Kingdom is not accredited to the Marshall Islands through an embassy; the UK develops relations through itshigh commission inSuva,Fiji.[7]
