Mark Twain State Park is a public recreation area encompassing 2,788 acres (1,128 ha) onMark Twain Lake inMonroe County,Missouri. Thestate park offers water recreation, hiking trails, and campgrounds.[4] It is adjacent to theMark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site.
TheMark Twain State Park Picnic Shelter at Buzzard's Roost is a historicpicnic shelter located at Mark Twain State Park. The shelter was built about 1941 by an all African-AmericanCivilian Conservation Corps company. The shelter is constructed of stone in a rustic style.[5] It was listed on theNational Register of Historic Places in 1985.[6]
