Mark Spiegler (born 1958/1959)[2] is an Americantalent agent forpornographic actresses and founder ofSpiegler Girls, which is often regarded as being among the adult film industry's top agencies.[1][3][4][5]
Spiegler was inducted into theAVN Hall of Fame in 2012.[6]
Spiegler was raised inWest Hollywood,California and attendedHollywood Professional School and thenHollywood High School.[1][7] He is Jewish.[8] He graduated fromCalifornia State University, Northridge with aBachelor of Arts degree in economics and became astock trader afterward.[1][3]
Spiegler began working in the adult film industry as aproduction assistant in the 1980s, while in the 1990s he worked as aproducer on 96 pornographic films.[3]
Spiegler began working as an agent after French pornographic actress Lisa Crawford asked him to represent her.[9] In 1999, he began working as an agent for Topp Models, but in 2003 he founded his own agency,Spiegler Girls, which is a member of the Licensed Adult Talent Agency Trade Association (LATATA).[3]
Spiegler refers to himself as the "Patron of the Tarts" on his business cards.[1][5] He has also been referred to as the "Ari Emanuel of porn" by several mainstream media outlets, such asThe Hollywood Reporter[3] andThe Daily Beast.[5]LA Weekly referred to him as the "Ari Gold of porn".[10]
Spiegler has appeared onThe Tyra Banks Show,[11]The Burn with Jeff Ross[12] and the German documentary film9to5 – Days in Porn.[13][14]
In February 2009, Spiegler filed a $3 million lawsuit fordefamation of character against pornographic film director Skeeter Kerkove, who alleged that Spiegler received oral sex from four of his clients (Jayna Oso, Katja Kassin, Melissa Lauren andKatsuni) in exchange for finding them work, but all four performers signed declarations, stating that the allegations made by Kerkove were false and Spiegler won $85,000 in damages in December 2010.[15]
The 56-year-old Spiegler, dubbed the "Ari Gold of porn" by L.A. Weekly, referring to the manic Hollywood agent in "Entourage" played by Jeremy Piven, may look relaxed, but by his own admission, he's a workaholic.
