Mark Manson (born March 9, 1984)[citation needed] is an Americanself-help author andblogger.
As of 2025, he has authored or co-authored four books, three of which,The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck,Everything Is F*cked: A Book About Hope, andWill, wereNew York Times bestsellers.
Mark Manson was raised inAustin, Texas, in the United States, where he attendedSt. Andrews Episcopal School after his parents got a divorce.[1][2] He moved toBoston,Massachusetts, to studyInternational Relations, and graduated fromBoston University in 2007.[3][4][5]
He is married to Fernanda Neute, a wellness influencer whom he met while traveling inSão Paulo.[6] They currently live in Los Angeles.
Manson started his first blog about dating advice in 2008.[7]
In 2010, he started a new blog calledpost masculine (now defunct) which provided general life advice for men.[8] Manson moved his blog tomarkmanson.net in 2013.[8]
In 2015, Manson published a blog article "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck", which would form the basis of his second book by the same name.[9][5]
Manson's first book,Models: Attract Women Through Honesty, was self-published in 2011.[10] It was reissued by Pan MacmillanAustralia in 2017.[11]
His second book,The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life, was published in 2016.[12] It appeared on theNew York Times Bestseller List at number six in the category of How-to and Miscellaneous in the week of October 2, 2016.[13] And rose to number one in July 2017.[14] As of September 2022, the book had spent 268 weeks in the top 10 before dropping out,[15] it has sold over 12 million copies.[16]
Manson's third book,Everything Is F*cked: A Book About Hope, was published by HarperCollins in 2019.[17] It debuted at number one on the New York Times Bestseller List for Advice, How-to, and Miscellaneous.[18]
Manson worked withWill Smith to write the actor's autobiography[19] which was published in November 2021.[20] In December 2020, Manson released an audiobook calledLove Is Not Enough exclusively through Audible.[21]

Erica Rivera, writing forMandatory, describes Manson's style in the book as being "as blunt as a man-to-man chat",[22] and Katherine Pushkar describes it as "foul-mouthed, funny-as-hell, [and] dead-on", and his philosophy thus: "that life is hard, you're not special, happiness is a hollow goal and therefore you should make sure you're focused on the truly worthwhile", in her review in theNew York Daily News.[23]
