Mariner's Temple is aBaptist church at 3Henry Street, in theTwo Bridges section ofManhattan,New York City. It is a brownstone building withIonic columns. It is a church member of theAmerican Baptist Churches USA (ABCUSA).[3]
The church was established in 1795 as Oliver Street Baptist Church.[4] The building was inaugurated in 1845.[5][6] Early Swedish Baptist leadersAnders Wiberg andJohn Alexis Edgren were ordained in the church in 1852 and 1866, respectively.[7][8] Reverend Dr. Henrietta Carter became pastor in 1998.[4]
The church has aBaptistconfession of faith and is part of theAmerican Baptist Churches USA.[9]
