TheMarianas Club Championship is anassociation football competition between clubs from neighboringGuam and theNorthern Mariana Islands. Founded in 2023, the tournament features the champion of theBudweiser G-League and theMarianas Soccer League 1.[1] The goal is to expand to four clubs by 2026.[2] The competition is sanctioned by theEast Asian Football Federation.[3]
In 2023, the pilot competition was created as part of theGuam Football Association Competition Department's four-year plan. It was believed the competition would spark renewed interest in soccer and the island's leagues while increasing the bond between the two islands.[4] For the first edition of the championship, newly-formedWings FC represented Guam whileEleven Tiger FC was Saipan's entrant.[5] Eleven Tiger went on to win the match 2–1 with goals fromTanapon Unsa andSunjoon Tenorio.Yvan Tcheugoue scored for Wings FC.[6]
