Margecany (Hungarian:Margitfalva,German:Margareten) is a village and municipality in theGelnica District in theKošice Region of easternSlovakia.[4] Total municipality population was, in 2011, 1964 inhabitants.[5] Margecany is a very important railway junction situated on the main railway corridor (Košice–Bohumín Railway) connectingKošice withŽilina andBratislava.Ružín reservoir regulates riversHornád andHnilec. Technical attraction is theBujanov tunnel.
