Marco João Costa Baixinho (born 11 July 1989) is a Portuguese professionalfootballer who plays as acentral defender.

Club career

Born inArruda dos Vinhos,Lisbon District, Baixinho spent most of his youth career atSporting CP and briefly rivalsS.L. Benfica.[2] He made his senior debut withA.D. Carregado in thethird division in the2008–09 season, winning promotion[3] and then making his professional debut inthe second,[4]suffering instant relegation.[5]

In the summer of 2011, Baixinho joinedC.D. Mafra also of the third tier.[6] On 23 June 2015, after four seasons of regular game time concluding withwinning the title, he signed a two-year deal atPrimeira Liga clubF.C. Paços de Ferreira under his former Mafra managerJorge Simão.[7]

Baixinho extended his contract in January 2016, to last until July 2019.[8] He scored his first top-flight goal on 5 December that year, opening a 2–1 home win overBoavista F.C. while playing indefensive midfield.[2] After Paços were relegated in2018, he netted four times to help thembounce back as champions (five in all competitions) and then signed a new deal in June 2019.[9]

At the end of the2021–22 campaign, having failed to agree terms for a new deal, the 33-year-old Baixinho left theEstádio da Mata Real.[10] On 13 July 2022, he signed a two-year contract withAnorthosis Famagusta FC of theCypriot First Division.[11]

Baixinho returned to his homeland in July 2023, agreeing to a two-year deal atU.D. Leiria, recentlypromoted to division two.[12] He left by mutual consent in December 2024, having totalled three goals from 33 appearances.[13]
