Marco Antônio Ribeiro, commonly known asMarco Antônio Boiadeiro, or simply asBoiadeiro (born 13 June 1965), is a Brazilian formerfootballer who played as amidfielder for severalSérie A clubs. He also played for theBrazil national team.
Born inAmérico de Campos, Boiadeiro started his professional career in 1985, defendingBotafogo de Ribeirão Preto.[1] He moved toGuarani in 1986, leaving the club two years later, then defendingVasco da Gama from 1989 to 1991.[1] Boiadeiro defendedCruzeiro from 1991 to 1993, then spent a season withFlamengo in 1994,[1] playing 15 games for the club.[2] He played forCorinthians during the 1994 and the 1995 seasons, then played briefly in 1996 forRio Branco andAnápolis.[1] Boiadeiro defended two clubs fromBelo Horizonte,América Mineiro in 1997 and in 1998, andAtlético Mineiro in 1998 and in 1999.[1] Marco Antônio Boiadeiro retired in 2000, while defendingSãocarlense ofSão Paulo state[1]
Boiadeiro played five games for theBrazil national team in 1993,[3] including fourCopa América games.[1] His first game was played on June 6, against theUnited States, while the last game was played againstArgentina on June 27, where he missed his shot at the penalty shootout in that tournament's quarter finals, costing Brazil the spot at the semifinals.[3]
