Marcelino Ignacio Núñez Espinoza (born 1 March 2000) is a Chilean professionalfootballer who plays as amidfielder forEFL Championship clubIpswich Town and theChile national team.

Nuñez made his professional debut in February 2020, coming on as a sub and playing 25 minutes in a home win againstDeportes Iquique inSan Carlos de Apoquindo.[2][3] HisCopa Libertadores debut was a few days later, on 3 March 2020, in a 3–0 away loss against Brazil'sInternacional.[4] His first professional goal came just a week later, in a 2–1 home loss againstAmérica de Cali, after bending a free-kick right into the goalkeeper's upper right corner.[5]

Norwich City

On 2 August 2022, Núñez joinedEFL Championship clubNorwich City for an undisclosed fee.[6] He scored his first goal for Norwich in a 2–1 away loss toHull City on 13 August.[7] On 21 February 2023, he scored a brace in a 3–1 victory againstBirmingham City, including a volley from 25 yards out,[8] which later won the EFL Championship Goal of the Month award for February 2023.[9]

Ipswich Town

On 29 August 2025, Núñez signed for fellow Championship side and Norwich City'sEast Anglian rivalsIpswich Town on a four-year deal.[10] On 1 November, he scored his first two goals for Ipswich, both free kicks, in a 4–1 away win overQueens Park Rangers.[11]

International career

Núñez was called up to theChile squad for the2021 Copa América,[12] though he didn't make any appearances. He made his international debut in a2022 FIFA World Cup qualification match againstColombia on 9 September 2021.[13] Núñez scored his first international goal for Chile in a qualification match againstBolivia on 1 February 2022.[14]

His younger brother, Bastián, is a youth player from theUniversidad Católica youth ranks.[15]
