Marc Duret (born 28 September 1957) is a French actor. He is known for his role as Rico in the 1990 filmLa Femme Nikita, and asJoseph Duverney in theStarz seriesOutlander in 2016.

Early life and education

Marc Duret was born inNice,Alpes-Maritimes, France, on 28 September 1957.[1]

Duret studied drama at theConservatoire national inNice, theConservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in Paris,Rose Bruford College in London, and theUniversity at Albany, SUNY and theStella Adler Conservatory in New York.[2][3]

Career

Having previously played CardinalGuillaume Briçonnet in the television seriesBorgia from 2011 to 2014, Duret appeared asJoseph Duverney in theStarz seriesOutlander in 2016.[citation needed]

Awards

Duret was nominated for a1991 César Award forMost Promising Actor for his portrayal of Rico in the 1990 filmLa Femme Nikita.[citation needed]

In 1994 he was nominated for aMolière Award for Best Newcomer for his theatre performance inLes grandes personnes (The Grown Ups). In 2011,Screen Junkies named Duret #1 of its "10 Best French Movie Actors".[citation needed]
