Maqetta is afree and open-source,web-basedWYSIWYGHTML editor designed to editHTML5 documents andweb applications. Its name is derived from theSpanish wordmaqueta, that means "mock-up".[3] The Maqetta application itself is authored in HTML, and therefore runs in the browser, without requiring additional plugins or downloads.
As of May 2013, active development of Maqetta has stopped.[4]
Maqetta was developed byIBM and later donated to theDojo Foundation as anopen-source project[3] under the terms of either theBSD-3-Clause or theAFL-2.1.
The editor was developed in response to a perceived need for open-source HTML5programming tools equivalent in capability to those available forAdobe Flash andMicrosoft Silverlight.[5][6]
The downloadable server component can run on a remote server or on the same computer as the client software (the web browser).
