Manturovsky District (Russian:Мантуровский район) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of thetwenty-eight inKursk Oblast,Russia. It is located in the southeast of theoblast. The area of the district is 1,010 square kilometers (390 sq mi).[2] Itsadministrative center is therural locality (aselo) ofManturovo.[1] Population:11,375 (2021 census);[6]14,349 (2010 census);[3] 16,758 (2002 Census);[7]19,994 (1989 Soviet census).[8] The population of Manturovo accounts for 19.3% of the district's total population.[3]

Geography

Manturovsky District is located in the southeast region of Kursk Oblast, on the border withBelgorod Oblast. The terrain is hilly plain in theCentral Russian Upland. The main rivers in the district are theSeym River - which from the district flows west to theDnieper River basin - and theOskol River which flows south to theDon River, Russia basin). The district is 60 km southeast of the city ofKursk, 110 km west of the city ofVoronezh, and 480 km south ofMoscow. The area measures 25 km (north-south), and 45 km (west-east). The administrative center is the town of Manturovo.[2]

The district is bordered on the north byTimsky District, on the east byGorshechensky District, on the south byGubkinsky District of Belgorod Oblast, and on the west bySolntsevsky District.
