The bout took place at theThomas & Mack Center,Las Vegas,Nevada, United States and was distributed byHBO PPV.[2][3] The bout is the last of the Pacquiao-Morales trilogy,[4] widely considered one of the greatest boxing trilogies of all time.[5][6][7] The fight also marked a return to HBO for Pacquiao, and the first fight in his four-year contract withTop Rank as his promoter.[8]
Similar to the second fight, Pacquiao entirely dominated the fight, scoring a total of three knockdowns to knock out Morales in the third round.[9]
The winner of the fight was supposed to become themandatory challenger of WBC super featherweight championMarco Antonio Barrera, but it was cancelled due to a legal dispute betweenTop Rank andGolden Boy Promotions.[10]
