Mandar is anAustronesian language spoken by theMandar people living inWest Sulawesi, Indonesia—particularly in the coastal regencies ofMajene andPolewali Mandar. It is written in theLontara script.[1]

The ethnic Mandar are closely related to three other groups living in South Sulawesi: Bugis, Makassar, and Toraja.
